QUEER PUNK FILIPINX
Bio
Queer Punk Filipinx began developing their artistic style while attending college circa 2014, experimenting with brush pens and acrylic paint. Their main inspirations include alternative fashion that is impactful enough to shift social norms (punk, goth, Japanese decora & Harajuku) musical subcultures (think Mirrored Fatality, a queer-punk band), cultural mythology (and last but not least good clean blood and guts!
Queer Punk's subjects are often imbued with punk or gothic undertones. They enjoy juxtaposing beauty with pain, marrying darker themes with light. Their favorite mediums are ink, acrylic and graphite pencil.
Queer Punk Filipinx’s influences include Lauren YS, Mark Ryder, Gerald Leung, Shintaro Kago, James Jean and last and most importantly Cheryl aka Duck Girl.
“I could list a hundred more influences, designers, artists and musicians etc, but the primary mindset I have going into all of my artworks is to be genuine, to experiment and embrace mistakes as gateways to something better than what I’ve tried before.
